The castle was once home to Erazem of Predjama, a rebellious knight often compared to a real-life Robin Hood. According to legend, Erazem defied powerful rulers by robbing the wealthy and helping the poor, using the castle’s secret tunnels and caves to escape capture.

When enemies laid siege to the fortress, they believed they had trapped him inside. But Erazem outsmarted them by using hidden passageways carved into the cliff, allowing him to slip out and resupply for months. The attackers were left bewildered, unable to understand how the castle never seemed to run out of food.
