Sonoma County is a beautiful place nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Mayacamas Mountains. It's known for its rolling hills, world-class wineries, and charming towns.
Picture yourself basking in the sun-kissed landscapes of Sonoma County, California, where rolling hills are adorned with vineyards, quaint towns exude a charming ambiance, and the air is infused with the intoxicating aroma of freshly harvested grapes. This idyllic destination is the perfect setting for an unforgettable girlfriend getaway, promising a symphony of relaxation, indulgence, and adventure.
Here are 5 top things you must do on a girls trip there:
1. Wine tasting
No trip to Sonoma County would be complete without some wine tasting. There are over 400 wineries in the county, so you're sure to find something to your taste. You can hire a driver or book a tour to take you to multiple wineries. Be sure to make reservations in advance, especially during peak season.
2. Enjoy a day of hiking
Sonoma County has many beautiful hiking trails, ranging from easy to challenging. If you're looking for a challenge, try the hike to Jack London State Historic Park. For an easier hike, try the Spring Lake Trail. One of my favourite hikes in the area is a hike to the top of Armstrong Redwood State Natural Reserve, where the magnificent redwoods always take my breath away!
3. Shopping for local products
Sonoma County has many charming towns with great shopping. You can find everything from local art and crafts to high-end designer clothing. Some of the best places to shop include Healdsburg, Sonoma, and Petaluma.
Top things I like to buy while visiting Sonoma County are:
Wine: Of course, no trip to Sonoma County would be complete without a bottle of wine.
Local cheese: Sonoma County is home to many artisanal cheesemakers who produce some of the best cheese in the country. Try a variety of cheeses at one of the many cheese shops in the county.
Local artwork: Many talented artists have found their home in Sonoma County. You can find locally-made artwork at galleries, craft fairs, and farmer's markets.
Local pottery: Sonoma County has several potters who produce beautiful handmade pottery. Be sure to pick up a piece or two to take home with you.
Jewellery: Many jewellers in Sonoma County make unique and beautiful jewellery. Be sure to check out the jewellery stores in the towns of Sonoma, Healdsburg, and Petaluma.
4. Take a relaxing spa day
There are many spas in Sonoma County where you can pamper yourself with a massage, facial, or other treatment. This is a great way for you and your girls to relax and unwind after a day of wine tasting and shopping.
One of my favourite spas in Sonoma County is Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary where you must try the unique Cedar Enzyme Bath!
5. Cooking class
Take a cooking class and learn how to make some of Sonoma County's signature dishes. This is a fun way to learn about the local food and culture.
I always recommend checking out the Ramekins Culinary School's "Sonoma Farm-to-Table" cooking class. In this class, you will learn how to make a seasonal three-course meal using fresh, local ingredients. The class is taught by experienced chefs who will guide you through each step of the process.
Sonoma County is a great place to relax and have fun with your friends. With its beautiful scenery, world-class wineries, and charming towns, it's the perfect destination for a girls trip.
